Local entrepreneurs share strategies in free workshop

SCOTCH PLAINS--The Health and Wellness Professional Network in partnership with the Scotch Plains library, presents Leap into Self-Employment, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. at the Scotch Plains Library, 1927 Bartle Ave. Scotch Plains. A continuation of the fall Career Workshops series, Leap into Self Employment features two successful local entrepreneurs, Ingrid Alexander of Plainfield and Gregg Rood of Westfield.

WBO seeks holiday event vendors

AREA--The Union County Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners' (NJAWBO) is extending invitations to members, friends and all business owners who would be interested in marketing their goods or services at the chapter's annual holiday charity auction and networking dinner. This year's event will be held on Nov. 12, from 6-9:30 p.m. at L'Affaire, 1099 Route 22 East, Mountainside.
The beneficiary of this year's auction will be the YWCA of Eastern Union County's domestic violence transitional housing program. Reservations for vendor participation are now being accepted by contacting Diane Lewis at 908-347-6200 or dlewis@njawbounion.org.

UNION--On Oct. 22 at 7 p.m., the Union Public Library, 1980 Morris Ave., will host a free program conducted by SCORE, entitled How to Start and Manage Your Own Business. SCORE is a group of retired and active executives trained by the Small Business Administration. Individual counseling is also available, and registration is suggested. Roselle UEZ assembles marketing 'Dream Team'

ROSELLE- The Roselle Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) announced today the beginning of a sweeping marketing initiative designed to greatly increase public awareness of the Roselle UEZ.
The marketing program targets both potential customers and business owners who are not already members of the Roselle UEZ. The professionals the UEZ has hired for the task specialize in market research, branding, print publications, media relations, event planning and web development.
"This is the first time the Roselle UEZ is engaging in a concentrated marketing effort that truly identifies the UEZ as its own entity," said Roselle UEZ Coordinator Harry Wyatt. "Marketing ourselves effectively is one of the keys to revitalizing the town. We need to get the word out to shoppers, diners and business owners that Roselle is a destination point, with so much to offer and experience."
