Support Perez in asking facts
In regards to Ted Connelly, a Bayonne councilman and coordinator of the county's 911 Emergency Calls Center, he states that he is too stressed to work. Well, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Tubman books tell of courage
Harriet Tubman, revered for her bravery in rescuing 300 slaves and helping transport them to freedom, including her 70-year-old parents, made 19 dangerous trips from Maryland as the premier conductor on the Underground Railroad during the 1800s.

Amazing man being vilified
I am so sorry to see how negative people can be. It is so unbelievable to see how fast people can jump on a bandwagon to bring someone down. The media, television, radio, and some residents of Jersey City, are all subject to work a story and beat it to death. There are so many intelligent people in this country. To see how many can sit in judgment of another person is so unfortunate.

Waterfront bill plays to fear
After all the effort made and the money spent to get us a world class promenade along our Hudson River waterfront, we now stand to lose our precious access. The state Senate is considering a homeland security bill, which purports to protect us from terrorist attacks. This is governing by fear.

You write like a beneficiary
I have today's Journal in front of me and I see an opinion letter by Steven Pinkney Sr. It's not a surprise for a "Healy beneficiary" to come forward and praise an elected official who brought "embarrassment" to Jersey City, not once but twice, and who failed in many aspects.

It's good news for foster kids
In the midst of stock market meltdowns and election politics, a historic, bipartisan piece of legislation called the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act. - H.R. 6893 was quietly signed into law. The bill will significantly improve the nation's child welfare system, increasing children's chances to leave foster care for permanent, loving homes, and extending foster care to youth from 18 to 21 years of age.

Cops must get Tecson's killer
It was quiet and peaceful as I ran up and down the streets below Mallory Avenue from Ege Avenue down to Roosevelt Avenue.
•
Time to heal - peacefully
I'd like to take this opportunity to commend my friend Councilman Steve Lipski for his valiant admission of his addiction. It's not easy. Steve was staring into the abyss, and he has chosen to fight. Steve is on the right path.
•
Fulop ignorant of Maio's value
Once again, upstart Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop speaks without knowing all the facts. Had he been around Jersey City longer or bothered to learn the history, Fulop would learn that at one time the Jersey City Housing Authority had a terrible reputation. When the late Bob Rigby and his team, including Maria Maio, who became his deputy, took over, they developed model tenant relations councils that became the envy of HUD projects around the country.
•
Rude to us in pushing vision
I would like to start with saying that this is the first administration to look at Journal Square and recognize that it is part of Jersey City.
•
Square plans need scrutiny
I am writing this letter to express my fears regarding the "New Vision" for Journal Square. In my opinion, this plan is a classic "bait and switch."

Need to claim spot in history
These past few days I visited a town in Massachusetts called Sandwich, which dates back to the 1600s. While there I visited several of their historic sites and museums. At the museum of glass, which is spectacular, I noticed credit was given to New York City, Brooklyn, Pittsburgh and places I never heard of from my knowledge of history.

4 things Congress can do to speed recovery
After a long and tough election year, Congress has serious
work to do in the coming months, and I look forward to
continuing that work as your representative in the 111th
Congress. As you know, Congress recently passed the Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act to help stabilize the credit
markets. As the Treasury Department works to implement these
provisions, Congress must turn its attention to economic
recovery legislation to stimulate the economy now and ensure
stability for working families for the future.
