For the second time in three days, a shooting in Elizabeth has left one man dead and another injured, authorities said today.

This is the 14th homicide in Union County so far this year, and the 10th in Elizabeth.
At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, two other men were wounded, one critically, in a double shooting that occurred at Pennsylvania Avenue and Trinity Place behind an International House of Pancakes, which abuts Pennsylvania Avenue at Whitehead Place.
Jeffrey Taylor, 33, of Rahway and Derrick Boyce, 29, of Roselle both suffered gunshot wounds to the head and were also taken to University Hospital. Taylor was treated and released, but Boyce remians in the hospital's intebnsive care unit in critical condition, according to Elizabeth Police Capt. Mark Kurdyla.
''At this point we don't believe the two shooting inciden are connected'' Kurdyla said.
Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for the arrest and indictment of the person or people involved in the homicide today. Anyone with information may call the Crimestoppers Tipline at (908) 654-TIPS (8477).
The Booker and McCarthy Safe Streets and Homes Program is now expanding from its Newark borders to Elizabeth. Shows you how a little incompetentence can go a long way.
Star Ledger -
Please have someone edit these articles before posting. Its a poor reflection on the company.
It it not the "second time in three days, a shooting in Elizabeth has left one man dead and another injured." It is the second double shooting in three days. Residents of Elizabeth & the police are rarely surprised by the locations of gun violence; same neighborhoods, same streets over & over.
It's sad to see this happen in Elizabeth my family has lived here for over 80 years and I 25. I guess they chose right when they resided in Elmora Hills. The worst crime we see is jay walking, all in due time, crime will filter its way through.
This goes to show those Newark haters that crime can happen anywhere....keep profiling Newark until it happens right next door to u..
What scares me the most is that the shooting that occcured near Ihop happend so early in the evening.Cops please walk the beat!!!!!!!
I know the paper is up for sale, but I'm sure someone forgot to use spell check for this article, someone missed the t in the word incident. I never knew that intensive was spelled with a b in it. Or that remains was spelled remians. Maybe the publisher should send the staff for refresher courses in spelling if they want some to contine reading articles.
Who knows if this article is accurate.
doctorphil, as usual, with a snide comment trashing Newark, even though the only connection to Newark is the fact that the victims were brought to University Hospital.
It must be nice to go through life as ignorant as that, with no accountability to anyone as you post anonymously on the internet. Bravo - you're feeding into the fear that will never help the city get back on its feet.
And for the record, my father lives in Newark, and owns a business in Newark, and my mother works in Newark as well.
At least Booker isn't trying to sell land at bargain-basement prices to his mistress.
itsmetina, Elmora Hills is safe for the foreseeable future. I've lived in another part of Elmora for four years, gang presence has actually declined somewhat, & real estate is stable because single family houses haven't been "bargains" around here since the mid-90's. There's even a new block of storefronts going up in downtown Elmora, which wouldn't happen if the rental demand wasn't there. Sometimes I think we should secede.
Once the majority of a town or city or state or country loses its morals then also common sense as a thinking human being goes down the drain a this is what we get, senseless murders everywhere with no remorse.
