Ariane Duarte, the Montclair restaurateur competing on the current season of Bravo's "Top Chef," capped a remarkable comeback in the culinary competition by clinching the win in Wednesday's night episode, which earned her a spot on the Today show this morning.
Duarte, a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef who lives in Verona and owns CulinAriane with husband and pastry chef Michael, was nearly ejected from the show in the first two challenges. But she earned raves last week for her Thanksgiving turkey and turned around the win Wednesday with her Jersey-fresh tomato, watermelon and feta salad and a winning cooking demonstration full of Garden State pride.
She says on the Bravo website that she's only ever done one demo in her entire career, and "it was a disaster."
