I visited Point Pleasant beach this weekend and had the wonderful privelege of visiting a local restaurant that is absolutley wonderful. It is the Downtown Bistro owned by Chef Tom Webber. It is a cozy little restaurant that shares its dinning room with the kitchen. The atmosphere was warm and quiet and the wait staff is always friendly and prompt. The menu is your basic italian style cuisine offering a steak, seafood and pasta section. The first time I visited I enjoyed the crab cake appetizer so much that I ordered the dinner version the next trip. I was so impressed with this restaurant that I felt it my duty to share my experience with the munch mobile and the people of New Jersey. A great Italian restaurant that the munchmobile should try. Nestled in a corner of a small strip mall in Newton, NJ,La Baita (Cucina Italiana) has the best Italian food that I've tried in a long time (except, of course, for my own home-cooked Italian dinners!) It is located at 7 Woodside Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860. Its phone # is 973-383-6623 and its fax is 973-383-5799. It's a BYOB but the quality of the food and the service is outstanding! Its fried calamari is lightly breaded and moist and delicious. It offers many varied dishes from pasta to all the meat and fish based dishes - veal, chicken, fish, and beef. Its pineapple and banana flambe are exciting and delicious! It's a must stop for the munchmobile!!
