by By SANDY POLSKY
Friday November 21, 2008, 3:09 PM
This is the fourth installment in a series about the author's family trip to Alaska.
***
I suppose the first time I went mountain-biking, it would have been more prudent to do it for 30 minutes instead of six hours.

by The Chronicle
Thursday November 20, 2008, 8:50 AM
CRANFORD--On Saturday, Nov. 22, the Cranford United Methodist Church invites all members of the community to join in an evening of service and fellowship, as they celebrate the seventh year making fleece blankets for those in need at the holiday season.
Blankets require no sewing only the ability to cut fabric and tie knots--so anyone can participate.
In prior years, the blankets have been distributed to homeless shelter organizations, hospitals, senior centers, and even a platoon of soldiers in Iraq.
Participants range in age from 5 to 85 and all are welcome for this evening of warmth and compassion.
They will meet at 7 p.m. in Randolph Hall of the Church, which is located at 201 Lincoln Ave. East in Cranford (by the Library and Community Center).
