    'Heavily intoxicated' Bayonne man arrested at home after crash

    A Bayonne man with an outstanding warrant was arrested Wednesday for allegedly driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident, reports said.

    Car stolen on 29th and Broadway

    A 1995 Honda Civic that was parked on 29th and Broadway was stolen, reports said.

    According to police, the car disappeared between 6:30 p.m. yesterday and 8:45 a.m. this morning.

    Tires slashed this morning on West 3rd

    All four tires of a 1994 Acura Integra parked at 156 West 3rd Street were slashed, police said.

    Cops say the vandals struck between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. this morning.

    Quilting Bees meet tonight at 6:30 p.m.

    Have you always wanted to quilt but weren't quite sure how to begin? Well then, come join the Bayonne Quilting Bees Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

    They meet every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bayonne Public Library and welcome inexperienced quilters and those wishing to learn. Experienced quilters are also welcome.

    The Bayonne Department of Recreation has received 20 tickets to see the Seton Hall Men's Basketball team take on California Baptist at the Prudential Center on Tuesday, December 9th at 7:30pm.

    Tickets are free and seats are limited, so if interested, call the Recreation Department ASAP at 201-858-6127 to reserve your seat.

    The Department of Recreation will be providing transportation to and from the game.

    Bayonne NAACP sticks with Strickland

    Alphonso Strickland has retained his position as president of the Bayonne branch of the NAACP, defeating challenger Caryl van Baaren by a nearly 2-to-1 margin in an election Nov. 20.

    About 35 persons participated in the voting held at the Friendship Baptist Church, officials said.
